Jungnang-gu, after creating a safe Myeonmok Station square
Myeonmok Station Square, which has suffered from chronic problems such as drinking, high-spoken entertainment, and smoking by homeless and drunkards, is pleasant.

-Reporter In-Gyu Ha
(Jungnang = Break News, northeastern part of Gyeonggi) = Jungnang-gu (Gu Officer Ryu, Gyeonggi) rolled up their arms to improve the environment at the Myeonmok Station square for local residents.

Despite the fact that the Myeonmok Station Plaza is a plaza near the subway station representing Jungnang-gu and a complex cultural space, the environment of the Myeonmok Station Plaza since last August was due to persistent complaints from local residents due to chronic problems such as drinking, drinking, and smoking by homeless and drunkards. It was revealed that it is in progress for improvement projects.

To this end, through the process of collecting opinions such as on-site confirmation and countermeasure meetings with outside experts such as the Seoul City Hall and psychiatrists, Jungrang Police Station, and local residents, we have prepared comprehensive measures and are devoting all our efforts to detailed promotions by field.

First, street counselors for homeless people are regularly assigned to carry out protection activities related to facility entrance and hospitals, while three-dimensional guidance is being conducted by providing advice on alcohol addiction and mental health in conjunction with public health centers.

In addition, to provide a pleasant plaza to residents, water cleaning is carried out once or twice a day, and in October, a campaign to encourage users of the plaza to stop drinking and smoking was conducted. In order to protect the rights and interests of residents and for long-term management, the city designated the entire Myeonmok Station as a non-smoking area, and plans to impose crackdowns and fines on smoking from January 2021 after the transition period.

In particular, the second-floor police post, scheduled to be completed in December, is equipped with a'companion center' where patrol personnel are always on duty and a civil complaint reception room is operated, and a'cheong chat room' operated as a youth counseling room. Of course, it is expected to play a comprehensive role in youth crime prevention and protection activities.

“We will reflect various opinions from local residents and outside experts, and actively solve the problem of the homeless and drunkards through cooperation with the Jungnang Police Station.” I will do my best to make it a space that can be used.”

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, November 25, at 2:30 pm, at the Planning Situation Room on the 4th floor of the Jungnang-gu Office, the government signed an agreement with the Jungnang Police Station for a collaboration system and governance to resolve the problem of the homeless and drunkards at the Myeonmok Station square.
