브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 배우 이영애 측이 남편 정호영 회장 관련 국회의원 후원금 논란에 대해 해명했다.

지난 2일 이영애의 법률대리인 법뮤법인 로고스 측은 공식입장을 내고 “최근 일부 언론에서 국회 국방위 소속 의원들께 기부한 이영애의 후원금이 남편 사업을 염두에 둔 것이기에 부적절하다는 취지로 보도해 논란이 됐는데, 이는 사실과 전혀 다르다”고 밝혔다.

이어 “정호영 회장은 군납업자도 아니고 무기중개업자도 아니다. 사실 확인 없이 보도한 것은 유감이다. 인터넷에 떠도는 정호영 회장 관련 기사는 개인 신상이나 재산 형성 과정 등에 많은 오류가 있다”며 “정호영의 본업은 해외 통신사 와 인베스먼트 관련 사업을 하고 있으며, 회사 소재는 미국 시애틀이다. 재산 형성도 방산 무기중개가 아닌 통신사(데이콤, 하나로 통신 등 ) 운영 투자 등으로 일군 것”이라고 전했다.

또 군 출신 국회의원을 후원한 이유에 대해 “이영애의 부친과 시아버지는 6.25 전쟁을 몸소 겪은 군인들이며 참전용사다. 이영애는 부친과 시아버지 같은 군인들의 고귀한 희생이 있었기에 오늘의 자유 대한민국이 존재하고 그 품 안에서 이영애씨 가족은 고맙고 행복한 삶을 산다고 했다”고 답했다.

더불어 “이영애는 국회 국방위 군 출신 의원들의 후원도 자유대한민국을 지켜준 군인분들에 대한 은혜 보답의 일환이고, 또한 군 출신 의원분들을 후원한 것은 그분들이 군 생활을 수십 년 한 분들이라 안보 분야는 일반 국회의원들 보다 더 전문성이 있을 것 같은 소견에서 후원을 한 것”이라며 “개의치 않고 군을 계속 후원할 생각이다”고 알렸다.
