(Namyangju = Break News Northeast Gyeonggi) = Namyangju Mayor Jo Gwang-han met with the heads of local agricultural and livestock cooperatives on the 14th and suggested that they participate in the environmental innovation promoted by the city.

The meeting was attended by the city branch manager of Namyangju Agricultural Cooperative Federation, the heads of six agricultural cooperatives and livestock cooperatives, and had time to hear from Hyo-Seok Lee, director of the Environment Bureau, about the recycling project promoted by the city and to share opinions.

During his tenure in office, Namyangju Mayor Jo Gwang-han has been focusing on environmental innovation, following transportation and space innovation, and has been promoting various environmental projects to create a clean city.

In addition, from August of this year, more than 840 illegal clothes collection boxes that are left on the roadside in each eup, myeon, and dong and are becoming trash cans are removed, and discarded clothes that can be used are collected at each eup, myeon, and dong office. We are implementing a project that collects waste and rewards it with a volume-based garbage bag.

Director Lee Hyo-seok of the Environment Bureau, who is in charge of the department, mentioned the reality that the waste landfill in the metropolitan area is about to end in 2025, with Namyangju looking at a population of 1 million, and predicted and compared the amount of household waste generated, and Samsong Co. The background and reason for the promotion were explained, as well as the project to separate reusable clothing and create a culture of sharing.

Mayor Cho said, “The culture of sharing reused clothing promoted by 16 eup, myeon, and dong in our city is getting a good response. The key to this ‘second wardrobe’ project is that all the things you like are free,” he emphasized, suggesting that the Agricultural Cooperatives jointly participate in the civic movement.

In addition, Director Lee Hyo-seok said, “If garbage is thrown away incorrectly, it will lead to environmental pollution and climate crisis, and the climate crisis can make human life the worst. Citizens can participate in the ‘Second Wardrobe’ project without difficulty, and incentives are provided to the participating citizens, attracting a lot of interest.”

The head of the Nonghyup National Association and the heads of each association who participated in the meeting said, “I thought it would be necessary to secure a lot of space. We will positively review the ‘Second Wardrobe’ project, such as providing incentives for those who participated.”
