Namyangju, ‘The 6th Daycare Center Healthy Cooking Contest’ completed

Contribute to enhancing the role of daycare center cooks and enhancing a sense of belonging

(Namyangju = Break News, Northeastern Gyeonggi) = Namyangju City (Mayor Gwanghan Jo) held the ‘6th Daycare Center Healthy Cooking Contest’ in the auditorium on the 4th floor of the Children’s Vision Center on the 30th, in which the chefs of the childcare center participated.

The Healthy Cooking Contest, hosted by the Namyangju Childcare Support Center, is one of the city's childcare-specialized projects. Since 2015, the nursery chef directly participates in developing and distributing lunch and snack menus to promote the health of infants and toddlers. (Excluding 2020) is being held.

This year's competition is a vegetable rich in vitamins and nutrients, and the main ingredient was 'leek', which was selected in the Namyangju Special Product Announcement in 2021, and received a video containing the recipe and cooking process in advance. Nine teams that passed the preliminary screening advanced to the finals, and they competed fiercely by presenting nutritious snacks with various ideas.

The dishes that entered the finals were evaluated based on four criteria of 'theme suitability, practicality, expressiveness, and originality'. Teams (Byulnae Child, Municipal Dasan Nuribom, Municipal Byeolnae Daycare Center) and ▲Encouragement Award 3 teams (Municipal Dasan Hangang Maple, Municipal Laon Private, Municipal Janghyeon Daycare Center) took the honor of receiving the award. The daycare center, which unfortunately failed to make it to the finals, was given a participation prize to encourage them.

The event also provided an opportunity to share various cooking information that can be made using leek as an ingredient by displaying photos and recipes of the work of the teams that advanced to the preliminary and final rounds.

Mayor Jo Gwang-han, who participated for the award, delivered a congratulatory speech, saying, “I would like to express my gratitude to the cooks who are silently working hard for the right eating habits and health management of infants and young children in an invisible place in the daycare center. We will think and work hard to create a happy childcare environment that we want.”

An official from the Namyangju Childcare Support Center said, “I hope this contest will provide an opportunity for cooks who are responsible for the health of infants and school staff to feel a sense of belonging. We will help the healthy growth of infants and young children by sharing recipes.”

One cook who participated in the contest said, “I am happy that there is a festival for us. Although leek is good for health, it is usually difficult for children to eat, but through this opportunity, it was a valuable time to think about cooking methods that are more accessible to young children and to try to develop a menu.”

Meanwhile, the city plans to provide opportunities to enhance job satisfaction as well as enhance professionalism by continuously promoting competency-enhancing education and healing programs for childcare staff through the Namyangju Childcare Support Center. You can check the schedule of events related to childcare staff and more details on the website of the Namyangju Childcare Support Center (website).
