(남양주=브레이크뉴스 경기동북부)하인규 기자=남양주시(시장 주광덕)는 지난 28일 경복대학교 우당관에서 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(이하 RISE) 사업추진을 위한 지·산·학 공동업무협약을 체결했다고  밝혔다.

교육부가 도입하는 ‘RISE 사업’은 학령인구 감소로 인한 지역대학 소멸 위기를 극복하기 위해 대학지원의 행·재정적 권한을 광역 지자체에 위임 및 이양해 지역발전을 추진하는 체계로 오는 2025년부터 시행된다.

이번 협약은 △남양주시 △경복대학교 △경기동부상공회의소 3자가 RISE 사업추진의 선제적 대처 기반을 확보하고 남양주시 지역과 산업, 대학을 대표하는 기관의 상호 협력을 확인하기 위해 마련됐다.

주광덕 남양주시장은 “RISE 사업의 성공적인 추진을 위해 경복대학교, 경기동부상공회의소의 긴밀한 협력이 필수적이다”라며 “오늘의 협약 체결이 인구와 산업구조 급변에 따른 위기를 극복하는 혁신적인 기회가 될 것이며, 새로운 지역발전 생태계를 구축하는 데에 최선을 다하겠다”라고 포부를 밝혔다.

전지용 경복대학교 총장은 “RISE 사업추진을 위해 힘을 모아주신 남양주시와 경기동부상공회의소에 감사드린다”라며 “공동협의회를 통해 함께 머리를 맞대 RISE 사업이 성공적으로 추진될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”라고 지속적인 협력을 강조했다.
