이날 기자회견에서 김동근 시장은 “의정부는 현재 수도권 내에서도 잠재력이 뛰어난 도시로 평가받고 있다”며 “민락, 고산, 용현을 중심으로 자족도시로서의 기반을 공고히 하고 지속 가능한 발전 모델을 제시하겠다”고 말했다.

 

□ 살기 좋은 도시를 향해!…잠재력이 풍부한 송산권역

 

민락‧고산‧용현지구는 의정부시 인구의 30%(작년 기준 13만4천479명)가 거주하고 있는 신도심으로, 39세 이하 인구 비율도 45%(전국 39%)에 이른다. 더구나 향후 고산법조타운(4천 세대)과 용현 공공주택지구(7천 세대)가 개발되면 2만5천 명의 인구가 증가할 전망이다.

 

특히 ▲용현산업단지, 복합문화융합단지, 법조타운, 306 보충대, 캠프 스탠리 등 개발 수요로 인한 높은 ‘직주근접성’ ▲부용산, 송산사지, 곤제근린공원, 민락천‧부용천, 낙양물사랑공원 등의 풍부한 ‘생태 공간’ ▲최근 10년 이내 조성된 주거 인프라와 코스트코, 이마트, 민락지구 상권을 갖춘 뛰어난 ‘주거환경’을 자랑하는 잠재력 있는 지역이다.

이에 시는 민락‧고산‧용현지구의 잠재력을 촉발하기 위한 전략으로 이번 프로젝트를 수립, 3개 지역을 연결해 ▲자족성(일자리) ▲생태환경 ▲주거환경(생활 인프라)을 대폭 업그레이드한다는 구상이다.

 

먼저 시는 송산권역 내 한국토지주택공사(LH) 경기북부지역본부 등의 굵직한 기업 유치, 용현산업단지 고도 제한 규제 완화, 지식산업센터 업종 확대 등 그동안의 성과를 기반으로 경제적 자립을 위한 다각적인 방안을 추진한다.
